The Municipal Administrative Sanction is a penalty, usually a fine, which a municipality can impose for infringements of its municipal regulations. These are given to deter different types of public nuisance.

Where can I find the related legislation?
Since the Municipal Administrative Sanction of 24 June 2013, municipalities can also sanction certain infringements previously handled by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. If a minor commits the infringements, the Public Prosecutor’s Office continues to follow up the case.
General regulations: these lay down the various aspects of the procedure for infringements of one of the provisions of the police regulations or regulations of the City of Ghent that may give rise to the imposition of a municipal administrative sanction.
